​Aladdin, a kind but wily, street urchin, falls in love with beautiful Princess who he knows is waaaaay out of his league. It just so happens, however, that the Sultan has declared that the Princess  must choose a husband within the next day. After she turns down the offers from various wealthy suitors, Aladdin -- with the help of a fast-talking, magical Genie -- introduces himself as a wealthy suitor.  Will love conquer all? Perhaps - if love has a little help from a Genie.

Amanda Wingfield is a faded, tragic remnant of Southern gentility who lives in poverty in St. Louis with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura.  Tom is driven nearly to distraction by his mother's nagging and seeks escape in alcohol and the world of the movies. Laura also lives in her illusions. She is crippled, and this defect, intensified by her mother's anxiety to see her married, has driven her more and more into herself.  Then one day a young man comes to dinner and everything changes - for everyone.


REHEARSAL and PERFORMANCE LOCATION:

PAY SCALE:         $150 to $175 a week depending on                                  role size


AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

                          A two minute DRAMATIC Monologue.                              We will also have SOME ACTORS do                                cold readings at their preliminary                                    audition.

CHARACTER BREAK-DOWN:

AMANDA WINGFIELD - This role has been pre-cast


TOM WINGFIELD - Amanda’s son and Laura’s younger brother. An aspiring poet, Tom works at a shoe warehouse to support the family. He is frustrated by the numbing routine of his job and escapes from it through movies, literature, and alcohol.


LAURA WINGFIELD - Amanda’s daughter and Tom’s older sister. Laura has a bad leg, on which she has to wear a brace, and walks with a limp. Twenty-three years old and painfully shy, she has largely withdrawn from the outside world and devotes herself to old records and her collection of glass figurines.  She is 20 to 30 years old


JIM O’CONNER - An old acquaintance of Tom and Laura. Jim was a popular athlete in high school and is now a shipping clerk at the shoe warehouse in which Tom works. He is unwaveringly devoted to goals of professional achievement and ideals of personal success.  He is 20 to 30 years old
